Astrid Fodor

Astrid Fodor (born 1953) is a Romanian politician of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania. Since 2008, she has been one of two Deputy Mayors of Sibiu, serving under Mayor Klaus Johannis from her own party and alongside Virgil Popa from the Liberal Party. She is the first woman who has served in this capacity since 1989. Astrid Fodor is also deputy chair of her party. She is tipped to succeed Johannis as Mayor of Sibiu in the case of Johannis being appointed Prime Minister of Romania.[1]

An economist, she has served as treasurer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania.[2][3]

She is a Transylvanian Saxon by ethnicity, and as such a member of Romania's German minority.
